Proposals are being accepted for the 2023 Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Research Program: Optimizing Response of Rheumatoid Arthritis to Therapeutic Agents. This Request for Proposals (RFP) focuses on research projects that seek to better understand and predict patients' varied responses to RA medications — ultimately to improve outcomes for individuals living with RA.
AWARD TYPES
The Arthritis Foundation will offer two award types:
1. Pilot Research Award: Aims to investigate a novel hypothesis with no preliminary data requirements; includes a budget of up to $75,000 annually for two years (up to $150,000 total per award)
2. Large Research Award: Projects require preliminary data; includes a budget of up to $150,000 annually for three years (up to $450,000 total per award)
ELIGIBILITY
This opportunity is available to experienced postdocs, clinical fellows and early and mid-career investigators at academic, nonprofit institutions in the United States. Full professors are not eligible to apply. Please see the RFP for detailed eligibility criteria.
TIMELINE
- May 17, 2023: Letter of intent due
- July 19, 2023: Full application due
- October 13, 2023: Applicants notified of decision
- January 1, 2024: Earliest project start date
